Orange “Chicken”

Tofu Ingredients

  • 1 block fava bean tofu
  • Cornstarch
  • Nutritional yeast
  • Salt

Sauce ingredients

  • Juice of 2 oranges
  • Coconut aminos
  • 1 Thai chili, sliced on diagonal
  • Maple syrup to taste
  • Fresh/frozen ginger, micro-planed
  • Garlic, crushed or minced
  • Cornstarch to thicken
  • Salt to taste

Garnish

  • Fresh scallion and/or chives, minced

Method

  1. Mix cornstarch, nutritional yeast & salt in a medium bowl.
  2. Cube or break tofu into bite sized pieces. Toss in the dry mixture to coat.
  3. Spritz lightly with oil of choice and air-fry or pan fry until brown.
  4. Meanwhile, combine sauce ingredients in a small pot. Bring to a simmer and continue to cook until sauce starts to thicken.
  5. Add sauce to tofu & toss well to coat.
